NordiCHI 2008 – Call for participation

NordiCHI is the meeting place for researchers from academia and industry, designers, practitioners, educators and others from a broad range of traditions and communities. NordiCHI is a biannual conference which has earlier been held in Stockholm (2000), Århus (2002), Tampere (2004) and Oslo (2006), and now in Lund (2008). Some details of the key highlights are provided below. Keynote speakers: Ingvar Kamprad, IKEA, Sweden Jonas Birgersson, Board member and CEO at Labs², Sweden Gerhard Fischer, Center for LifeLong Learning and Design (L3D), University of Colorado, Boulder, USA Kirsten Dehlholm, Hotel Pro Forma, Denmark Marianne Graves Petersen, Computer Science Department, University of Aarhus, Denmark. 42 selected full papers will be presented at the main conference, covering themes such as: Usability evaluation Participatory design Mobile interaction Novel user interfaces Cultural issues Theory and foundation of HCI Design methods Ubiquitous and pervasive computing Group and organisation issues Design methods Universal acccess Health care applications Public IT E-learning and games In addition, 25 further papers will be presented as short papers and or as posters/demos. Also, the NordiCHI Doctoral Symposium provides an opportunity for doctoral students to explore and develop their research interests in an interdisciplinary workshop, under the guidance of a panel of distinguished research faculty. City University is looking for career academics to join the highly successful Centre for Human-Computer Interaction Design and to contribute to its human-computer interaction design research and teaching mission. This research encompasses evaluation of systems, interaction design, accessibility, user diversity, social computing, creativity and socio-technical systems design. It has been applied to applications ranging from health-care to on-line gaming environments and Second Life, and is supported by its state-of-the-art Interaction Lab sponsored by the Vodafone UK Foundation.
